Bench Prototype

The bench prototype is the fastest way to validate the OpenSling treatment logic before committing to a field-ready chassis.

Objective

Build a reconfigurable loop that allows quick changes to:

  • intake geometry
  • solids removal stage
  • cartridge selection
  • pressure instrumentation
  • disinfection method

Suggested Starter Stack

Stage Example approach
Feed open test reservoir with screened pickup
Pump 12 VDC diaphragm or centrifugal pump sized for moderate flow
Pre-separation small settling chamber or cyclone test section
Fine filtration clear-housing sediment cartridge
Polishing optional carbon block in bypass or full-flow mode
Disinfection UV chamber or placeholder spool for later comparison

Build Priorities

  1. mount gauges before and after fine filtration
  2. include sample valves at inlet, post-filtration, and final outlet
  3. make drains easy to use without spraying the work area
  4. label flow direction on every removable module

Bench Success Criteria

  • repeatable flow measurement
  • visible and measurable change across at least one treatment stage
  • easy cartridge or module swap within minutes
  • logging or manual recording procedure defined before the first test

Notes

This prototype is for process development. If the system is later aimed at potable use, validation requirements become much stricter than "it looked better on the bench."
